"Ocean Stacks" is a project that dives into the significance of perspective and vantage points in photography. By focusing on the rock stacks in Point Lobos, San Francisco, the project examines how capturing these formations from different angles and heights can dramatically influence the composition and viewer perception. The images portray the rocks as central elements, enveloped by the powerful waves of the ocean, emphasizing the interaction between solid and fluid forms.
Reconstruction aims to recreate pictures from the 1980s and the early 2017, imaging the environmental difference of the Athenian school located in Danville, CA. Using a side to side comparison, viewers can vividly visualize the structural, natural, and personage transformations as all the pictures are taken from the exact position where the original image was captured. Envisioning the staggering changes our environment experienced over the years, I was able to create work that travels through time. The presence and transformation of unique characters in the pictures make the work more gratifying.
Cartscape is a look into the Athenian School’s landscape through the eyes of sunlight with the ubiquitous campus golf carts. Used for maintaining the landscape of the school, the golf carts are part of the reason for the beauty in the landscape in addition to being embedded in it. The presence of the golf carts symbolizes the uniqueness of Athenian. The reflection through the windows of carts makes for a beautiful sight in my eyes. The mixture of vibrant colors from nature and light gives me a sense of freedom. So many landscape photographs show an idealized version of nature, but I am drawn to the imperfections that make each landscape unique. In this project, I wanted to tie the uniqueness of the Athenian school to a worldwide landscape photography. The presence of light laying across the landscape makes everything it touches beautiful.
